Holmere Bank Reviews

Lovely house, beautifully decorated, amazing space and plenty of it, very well equipped , nice and warm . Great for hide and seek in house and garden. 15 of us over 3 generations all loved it .
Holmere Bank was the perfect place for our extended family stay. Even the pink room wasn't too overpowering!!!! We were all very comfortable the only difficulty was in choosing which rooms as they were all lovely. Only slight technical hitch was the big cooker in the main kitchen as it needed setting to the right time in order for the oven to switch on but a quick Google sorted that out. Loved the stone flagged floor and the baby gates were very helpful in containing our small dog downstairs.
What a beautiful home this is. Everything you need. We all loved the cinema room. Everything was spotless. We will definitely be booking to come back.
What a place. Amazing!!! We had a fantastic weekend and very impressed with the property and everything it had to offer. Very well kept, clean and warm and plenty to keep everyone happy, especially with the fab games room and cinema room. I had family and friends coming from near and far, including Germany and as far north as Inverness and all were amazed by the property. The kitchen was great as well there were no pictures of the kitchen on the website and I wonder why as it is lovely and many times we just stood around the big kitchen island talking and drinking of course lol. I would just like to mention if you could pass it on to the owner that the outdoor lights both front door and back door did not work, which made it very dark outside the property this time of year and difficult to see without a torch when wanting to put things in the bin out back. We looked for a switch as we though it might just need to be turned on but couldn't find a switch for either so assumed they must be on a sensor. But this was the only minus about the whole experience and property. The instructions 'big black book' left by the owner is very clear and helpful with info on local shops etc. To sum it up in one word fantastic !!
A super place to celebrate my 70th Birthday with our extended family. Ian, the owner, was very helpful and communication was excellent.
Very well appointed dwelling. We were a group of 15 all extended family and had a splendid weekend. I left a note for the cleaners on bits and pieces we found problematic by using them. The weather, storm Amy weekend was not the best but it didn't stop 2 outings. 1 literally on the doorstep the other a longish walk starting just a couple of miles away.
Instructions spot on, the house is absolutely incredible. Plenty of room for everyone, well equipped and absolutely ideal for a weekend away!
The location and property exceeded our expectations and we had a thoroughly enjoyable week, but the owner needs to maintain and improve some things to protect his reputation. Some issues were reported on the Sykes app the day after our arrival but no response whatsoever was received all week, letting down not only us as guests but the owner too. These are the main issues The eldest member of our party had a nasty fall needing a visit to Lancaster A&E through missing the small disguised step from the cinema room to the laundry. For H&S reasons it needs a white strip to make the step clear, similar to that from the kitchen to the corridor. Refuse from the previous week had not been collected with some cans and bottles littering the patio and back garden, so that by the end of our visit all bins were full and we needed to buy additional bags. The table football in the games room is unusable because some of the rods with players have lost screws restricting their pulling. The Quooker tap just spits and steams but does not deliver water. The speaker system worked only in the cinema room and not throughout the house. There was no tin opener so we bought one and we couldn't find a proper bread knife either. Some of the dining room chairs are a bit unstable. The bin issue was mentioned to the gardeners who assured us not to worry as they would speak to the owner and the cleaners were told about the step when they remarked on the arm in a sling! The gardeners and cleaners were all very pleasant. The above points, however, did not spoil our overall experience but we would only return or recommend the property if these problems were sorted. Whether we would book through Sykes again is a different matter.
Best stay away weve had so far! Plenty or space for everyone, gorgeous gardens for kids to play. Clean tidy rooms that are a very comfortable size. Cannot recommend this place enough! Was only a maximum 10 minute drive to shops and 15 mins to pier which is where we spent a day. Just an overall great experience for family and will definitely be returning in the future!!
Abigail
Holmere Bank was the perfect location for my partner and I to host our family over our wedding weekend! It was a great base to have all our family and key wedding party in one place. Plenty of space to get ready in the morning and entertainment with the games room at the top. The rooms were spacious and beds comfy and we were greeted with a lovely hamper on arrival. Ian was very communicative and accommodating to our needs making the whole experience truly wonderful. Would highly recommend this place to stay with a large group, especially for special celebrations with family and friends.
The house is beautiful, very clean, only one large pot for cooking for large groups, also 2 seating areas however no where big enough for all of us to sit, chairs at dining table very wobbly and not very in keeping with the house decor. Also WiFi stopped working and we had to wait for it to be reset, we were wanting to watch a film on Netflix. This was rectified promptly. There was a smell of sewage in the upstairs main entrance suite. We did enjoy the property, loved the games room and TV room, and the welcome basket was very much appreciated.
Michael
The only problem with this fantastic place is in the kitchen. ..the lack of large pans and serving spoons made catering tricky. There was a truly vast pan and a set of 4 small saucepans, but nothing in the middle. My wish for the owners would be provide some 5 or 6 litre stock potscasserole pots with lids. Our family is mixed veggiesmeatatarians, and it was tricky to cater for meat options of curries, pasta sauces... Apart from that, the house and everything about it is lovely. Thank you so much for our stay...we had a lovely time.
Rachel
This house is absolutely amazing and stunning and in a perfect location. We enjoyed every minute and would definitely book again. There was 15 of us and every single person was happy with everything and the owner is lovely and very accommodating. Even the booking was so easy and straight forward. The cinema room is fantastic and all the rooms was lovely and clean and beds very comfortable and big . 5 star from all of us and thank you again . Also the dog loved it
Deborah
Fantastic house, very clean and super comfortable, well equipped We loved this house and will definitely be back
The house is amazing. We go away each year for new year and struggle to find equitable bedrooms. Not here ! Everyone was happy and no one short changed. Plenty of bathrooms. Cinema room is great. Lots of rooms to chill out away from the hustle of the big group. Host great to deal with. Would recommend.
Louise
Beautiful house and location. Cinema room and games room were a brilliant addition and kept the teenagers happy and adults!. Loved the decor and lots of space for everyone. Facilities good and near to the sea and lakes so a good all round. We all loved our stay and wished it was for longer hopefully we will all be back . Thank you Ian The only thing the kitchen needs are some bigger frying pans and a few more large saucepans when catering for 14 people and also some serving spoons would be useful too. Other than that plenty of everything else.
Great place, no problems, will book again
Absolutely beautiful
Nicola
Where to start. This place is stunning!!! First, the building itself is beautiful and has so much character inside an out, you can't help but explore every part of the house. Secondly, it had everything we needed. From all kitchen equipmentutensils to DVDs and board games galore. The house was warm and cozy and a great size to play hide and seek with the kids which they played non stop all weekend. We all loved this place and had a fantastic weekend and would recommend this place to everyone. Side note, this time of year, Harry Potter in the cinema room. ...amazing. Thanks Holmere Bank
Perfect for our family birthday celebration. Every question we required answering was sorted by the owner Ian. Our family would highly recommend
Dennis
Absolutely ideal for family gatherings. Couldnt have asked for better. One or two minor issues which Ian immediately attended to. Would definitely come back again. Strongly recommended.
Property was as advertised, very comfortable and warm, excellent facilities, we made good use of games room and cinema. Location very good just off the motorway. Yealands village within easy walking distance and The New Inn serving a good Sunday lunch Although sufficient toilets and washing facilities with only 3 rooms ensuite difficulties did arise. Also we realised showers required to be staggered due to limited hot water but not a great trial. In conclusion a very pleasant accommodation and we had wonderful weekend and have no problem recommending property
Kenneth
Loved our stay at Holmere, what a fabulous find. We are a group of 10 aging from 20 74. The house is spacious, comfortable, warm and perfect. Each themed room beautifully decorated, all the beds comfortable with warm bedding, comfy pillows and some with a on suitesome shared bathrooms. The games room and projector rooms went down a treat for us all especially our film night with the log burner on as well. Plenty of parking, lovely views and very quiet. The only negatives it could do with better kitchen utensils to accommodate large groups and there are enough seats in the lounges for a large party to relax together apart from the dining room and it was pitch black out the back to take our dog to the lawned area. Otherwise perfect stay and didn't want to come home! We pre ordered chippy tea from arnside they were scrummy and parked at carnforth and took the train to grange over sands. Lovely location, easy to find and the house is just amazing. The owners are a credit to it. We would definately recommend and return.
Matthew
Great place for a gathering! ! Cinema room on a wet day, or sat around the fire pit of an evening. A well equipped kitchen made feeding everyone a breeze. Wish we could of stayed longer!
We had a lovely stay in Holmere Bank for 5 nights. We were a family party of 12. The house is even more impressive in real life than in the photos. The beds were very comfortable and the huge dining table was great for accomodating us all. The cinema room and the games room were a bonus. The electric vehicle charging point was also very welcome. The owners were very helpful and communicative. The location is also excellent, as it's near the borders of both Yorkshire and Cumbria. We enjoyed easy trips out to Lancaster, White Scar Caves, Leighton Hall, Ingleton waterfall trails and a long walk from the house to Jenny Brown's Point on the coast. Overall, would thoroughly recommend it.
It was a loverly property & we had a great time Beds were very comfortable everything worked However small points to mention were the grill was dirty on first use. There was a shortage of saucepans large one. Also the scissors in the kitchen are unusable This did not stop us having a great family holiday in fantastic accommodation Thank you
Annette
Lovely house ideal for a large family gathering. Only real criticism is felt the kitchen was not adequately equipped to cook for 14 people.
Jacqueline
We had a wonderful stay. The property was ideal for a large family group of mixed ages. The games room was a real hit with the teenagers. The only one point to note is the majority of the bedroom windows are unable to be opened which made it very warm of a night.

We had a lovely stay, beautiful house and in a perfect location with all the amenities we needed for our break. It is a pet friendly home and there were a few pet hairs around the house etc but didnt impact out stay. Forgot to pack a travel iron and needed on while we were there, the property didnt have one but we got by. The owner has assured us hell have one for our next stay because well definitely be visiting again.
Duncan
Beautiful house, modern and well furnished. Would come back
Louise
This place was absolutely amazing, even better than we expected. Highly recommend and I hope to be back soon
Thomas
What a house and location, all the family loved it can not speak highly enough of this place will definitely be booking again. .
We spent a lovely weekend in this stunning property. The house is beautifully decorated with impassive views. The family loved the games room and most of use spent most evenings playing pool, the others retired to the cinema room. We even watched the football on the large screen. The property is in a quiet area and in easy reach of the RSPB reserve and a short drive to either the lakes or coast. Would definitely recommend.
