Situated between the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks, the traditional market town of Kirkby Stephen hosts a variety of shops, cafés, restaurants and pubs where you can revel in the delights of local produce and tasty meals. Outdoor fans will be in their element in this charming town as it has a whole host of activities set in its beautiful nature surroundings, grab your bike and cycle on the Walney to Wear cycle route which will take you from coast to coast or grab your rod and head to the River Eden or Bessy Beck Trout Fisher to catch something for your supper! Unleash your inner historian and take a trip to the impressive Brough Castle, stemming from the 1200’s and later restored by Lady Anne Clifford in the 17th century, where you can also visit St Michael’s Parish Church near to the castle to learn more about the region or indulge in an ice cream from the Brough Castle Ice Cream Parlour.
