Waverley Reviews

The house was fantastic great for our large family get away, the village was beautiful also everything we need for a great relaxing break.
Denise
We had a lovely stay at Waverley, there were 16 of us aged from 2 to 97. The house is old, but comfortable, and yes the doors are very heavy and some of the handles can be difficult to open at times, but wasnt really an issue for us. The lounge is rather small and could only seat a maximum of 9 on the chairs, so that was a little disappointing, but we managed with the more able of us by sitting on the floor, this isnt a negative as you cant do anything about the size of a room on a house so old, but maybe with a corner settee, you could create a few extra seats? I had a couple of issues when we first arrived nothing major, and Michelle owner, got everything sorted within the hour. Communication with Michelle was excellent. We all said that we would be happy to return to Waverley, if we all had another holiday together in the future.
This is the third time we have stayed at the property and so are very satisfied with it. I wouldnt criticise anything.
Patricia
We had a lovely break here last week, the accommodation was ideal for our party of 14 and 2 dogs. House was warm , comfortable and well equipped, it also had a car park. Would definitely recommend.
Eileen
This place is nothing like it shows in the pictures, its old and dowdy, with broken showers, freezers turned off, only 2 hobs can be used for 12 people as the correct pans not available, doors that are that heavy and stick, it takes 2 adults to open them, dog hairs all over furniture. Patio doors that won't open, being told by owners that other visitors had broken it so we couldn't use it, actually told us that outside the patio door was an unsafe area and not to use it. All jobs that should if been dine before we arrived.
Richard
Lovely location and facilities. Enjoyed by all.
Very responsive and helpful, thank you!
We had a wonderful time at the Waverley with all our family celebrating my husbands 60th Birthday. .The house is absolutely amazing beds are so comfy the bathroom on top floor was very popular grandkids loved the bath ....so cosy with the real fires fantastic dining room for us all ..A good time was had by all can highly recommend we would love to come back one day.
Fabulous we loved it! Location is really great, facilities are great. Took us a day or two to work out the parking but once you are used to it you can get 4 cars on the front and a transit at the back. Its literally 5 mins walk from the lake great for a wild swim before breakfast! Kids loved the table tennis in the cellar, it was like a den for them.
Great house in a wonderful location. We were 3 generations of family 7 adults, 3 children and 2 dogs celebrating an 80th birthday and this was perfect. Comfortable bedrooms, the kitchen was really well supplied for selfcatering and a nice big dining table. Seating area in kitchen could be a bit cosier we spent more time there than the proper sitting room, but thats a small niggle as the property worked so well. Great location in Consiton village and an easy walk to the lake. Nice little play area opposite too. Would definitely recommend.
Really lovely house in the heart of gorgeous Coniston and we had a fantastic weekend celebrating our sons 21st with family. There was something for everyone in the area from a potter round the village to the Coniston Round. The beds are very comfortable, bathrooms were clean. Loved the top bathroom! The kitchen was a little tired but we had everything we needed. The owners were very friendly and responsive. Thank you for a great stay.
Lovely house with every comfort and we large family group had a wonderful time. A lot of thought has gone into making this house perfect for a large group and the location is fabulous, we would definitely book again Thank you Michelle & Jonathan
Generally great house and location for a large group. It would not take much to improve the ratings making sure all bedrooms have litter bins and all bathrooms bath mats for example. The quality of bed linen and towels was very good and the beds are comfortable. However, en suites and bathrooms could receive a bit of TLC refurbishment and the bathroom on the second floor needs to be finished. The kitchen and catering provision does let the side down. If you are cooking for 14 then you need cookware of an appropriate size and quality that was lacking. You don't want pots with flaking teflon! The cooker is inefficient and really rather annoying. You also need space surfaces when catering for a large group. A table in the dining room to lay out food would be a good addition. More of everything and better quality is the order of the day. It's a 3.5 out of 5 from us.
The house was ideal for our group of 10 walkers comfy beds and pillows as well as roomy bathrobes, plenty of hot water, a very large fridge. The big sunny dining room was perfect for planning walks and lingering over dinner. The quiet location is a great starting point for many local walks as well as a boat trip across the lake to Brantwood.
Maxine
We had an amazing stay at Waverley! The house was perfectly located right by Coniston lake and town, which is arguably now my favourite place to stay in the Lake District. Nearby was a local coop for groceries, a petrol station and a handful of pubs to stop by and grab food or a pint. Waverley itself had plenty of rooms for our group, and had all the basic amenities we needed for a long weekend. The kitchen was well stocked with equipment, dishes, cutlery and even a dish washer. The house was ideal for our big group and our friends dog, who absolutely loved the space outside. It was beautifully furnished with big mirrors, had a modern feel, was cosy and I would recommend it for anyone wanting a home away from home!

The property is located very close to Coniston lake in a great neighbourhood. We found it very clean but kitchen was very poorly equipped. We couldnt work the induction hob because there were no compatible potspans. Had to rely on only two electric points for cooking for 15 people. The property had no bin bagskitchen rolls etc.
Elaine
Had a lovely family birthday celebration in a beautiful house in a beautiful location
