Sandy Shore Reviews

Amanda
Lovely large detached property within a five minute walk to Beadnell bay. Nice decor and furnishings. There was no starter pack for the log burner which we found unusual as every property we have stayed in with a log burner has always supplied a pack. The only criticism is the cleanliness of the property which is serviced by a cleaning company. Lack of attention to cupboards and drawers in the kitchen area and the floors and mats could be cleanedwashed rather than just run round with a vacuum. Lovely large enclosed garden which is perfect for your dog.
The property was as described and was generally well equipped, very comfortable and clean. The frying pans in the kitchen are well past their best so we didnt use them. There was an issue whereby the heating in the upstairs rooms wasnt working, despite the rooms downstairs being beautifully warm. The first night wasnt particularly cold but on the second night I sent a text to the number supplied on the confirmation email, requesting advice to sort that out. There was no name given with the number so Ive no idea who owned it. I didnt receive an acknowledgement or a reply but when we got back to the house the next evening the radiators upstairs were all warm.
We used the house for a golf break and it worked out really well. We are always impressed when coffee, tea and milk are available when we arrive. What was also helpful to us was the garage space to dry out wet kit. Easy walk to everything in beadnell.
Josephine
Second time at property, we love the house and location. The decoration and some furniture have been updated and are really nice. The sink and toilets were really brown had to bleach them. The glass on all the doors really bad with fingerprints and a lot of dust round skirting boards. Appreciate it is difficult to do deep cleans when the property is constantly let.
Gillian
Fabulous house, Fabulous holiday ! House had everything you could need, lovely secure garden for our dog. We would love to return !
Property in very good order and spotlessly clean. Good to have two separate rooms downstairs. There was a problem with the boiler and we lost hot water but with a call to the number provided a plumber arrived within a couple of hours and it was sorted. Not of the owners making but the previous occupiers had left the wrong bin out the previous week leaving the general waste bin full. We would use again, the garden is great for dogs.
Michael
Great holiday at Sandy shore, love beadnell and the surrounding areas. The property is a short walk from beadnell bay beach which was loved by grandkids and our excitable black Labrador. A great spot for a family getaway.
A well maintained and well equipped spacious house in a great location. It suited four of us on a golf holiday and would equally suit a family. Ideal for our needs.
Lovely house, clean and comfortable with everything we needed. Note left re bins and info for heating etc in folder. Would happily recommend and hope to stay there again
The house is in an excellent location for the beach, Seahouses, Bamburgh and Alnwick and has a nice secure back garden. The layout of the house is excellent but the cleanliness is wanting, we felt that we were cleaning the house after previous occupants, it was certainly much cleaner when we left than when we arrived. eg Shower head black I don't think it's ever been cleaned Shower drain 75 blocked an issue I have encountered twice before with Sykes cottage lets Settees have not been cleaned underneath for months Tumble drier doesn't work because the filters are so jammed we couldn't clear them. Curtain rail in living room held up with tie wraps! Baby gate rail catch comes straight out the wall with plugs and screws still attached. I could go on but you get the message. We had an excellent time but question the cleaning carried out prior to arrival and maintenance of facilities. Its okay listing items as a benefit but if they don't work don't list them
This is our second stay at sandy shore the property is in an excellent position for walking to the beach. As been noted in previous reviews the house is in need of redecoration but I see from the owner this is due to be done and didnt spoil our stay. Just a small observation there is a few gaps under the fence where it appears rabbits are digging and it could be a problem for a small dog been able to get out. Really enjoyed our stay and would book again
2nd to 9th November 2024. This was our 5th stay at Sandy Shore. The house was nice and clean on our arrival. It was nice to see the seating in the lounge has been changed and updated. Much more comfortable. The kettle had a dodgy switch but this was quickly rectified with a new kettle. Was disappointed with the Craster Arms. Had roast lamb and whilst there was a lot of it the quality was poor. The Middle Inn in Bamburgh is excellent. We love Beabnell and will be back next year. Pete
I wouldnt normally leave such a negative review but unfortunately although this house was in the idea situation for the beach and surrounding attractions, it needs attention. Property was not thoroughly clean, lots of cobwebs, black ones so been there some time. Dust and hairs around edges of rooms. Black mould in all the showers, generally needs a deep clean and some TLC. The kettle was interesting, had to hold the button down once the blue light was located.. the oven was dirty. Dog mess left in the back garden from the previous occupants.
Fantastic holiday, great location, well equipped house. 7 adults and 1 child, plenty of room and space. As per previous reviews house could do with a bit of TLC, garden bit neglected for money paid. Other than that lovely holiday home and would recommend.
Jessica
What a fab stay we had! Sandy Shore is a comfortable, spacious property that catered for our every need for 6 adults, 1 toddler, 1 baby and a dog! The beds were comfortable, kitchen was great with everything we needed and the garden was fantastic, it got a lot of use!! Our only bug bear was some of the door locks were a little temperamental and sometimes it took a minute or so to unlock them. We will definitely consider staying here again in the future. Thanks for a great stay!
Josephine
The property is lovely, however, the downstairs would benefit from an update. The garden is brilliant but the step from the French doors is quite high and awkward. Unfortunately we had to dispose of our rubbish in the bins at the beach, as the wheelie bin appears to have not been put out for quite a while. Otherwise, we really enjoyed our stay.
Norman
This was our third stay and we note improvements added each year. Maybe it is time for all door locks to be serviced as they can be temperamental. The garage could do with a tidy and general clean,we were impressed and grateful for the prompt delivery of a battery for the garage fob by the maintenance team
The property was ideal for our extended family of 6 1 dog. Only a 5 minute walk to the beautiful Beadnell Bay & a leisurely 20 minute walk along the sea front to the village centre. The property is well furnished, with a large & secure back garden which was ideal for our grandkids. On a quiet street with not a lot of passing traffic. Would definitely return
Really couldnt fault the property we enjoyed ourselves would certainly stay there again.
Great property with all the home comforts you need whilst being spacious and well equipped. Lovely large enclosed garden for children and a dog. Very good location, just around the corner from the very large sandy beach and a great base for exploring further along the coast and all the Northumbrian attractions. Would highly recommend.
Lovely house but could do with a proper clean, dog hairs on all over the house we didnt take a dog wash basins not very clean in some of the bathrooms, bin in bathroom still had rubbish in from previous visitors. Extractor fan in kitchen covered in dust with messages written on, also I presume from a past guest. The fence in the garden was broken down and had been propped up with garden furniture, when the man delivered the hot tub he spent time repairing it for us Overall we enjoyed our stay, good location for visiting local sites.
Very spacious had everything we needed great location walks and a great pub!
This was our 4th stay at Sandy Shore. The location is great and so many lovely walks and beaches to explore. Great dog friendly pubs. Lots of castles to visit. Pleased to see the owner has acted on providing larger cereal bowls and a better selection of glasses. Maybe could think about providing a few more cooking dishes and microwave dishes. For those people that may be put off by some of the previous petty comments, dont be. Not many properties would do that well with Four in a Bed style inspections. We are already booked up for next November. Pete
This was our second stay at house . Its a good size and upstairs is nice, beds comfy ,en suites and bathroom fine only downside no dressing tables for the ladies of group, downstairs the kitchen room is looking tired, the sofa is looking very grubby and past its best, kitchen is fine and dining area is ok, however when we arrived we encountered a few minor problems, there was a broken cup and broken whiskunusable fell apart as no handle on scissor handle broken, batteries in tv remote not working ,some left in drawer, all dead , had to buy some to enable use of the TV .No washing line,or pegs,no coat hangers in two bedrooms we had to share the few that where in other two ,worked out we had approx 4 for each Bedroom. The Main lounge is okay but blinds missing .unfortunately the television is ridiculous size, tiny,in wrong place cannot be watched by people sitting at far end of room ,does need a larger tv and if possible put on wall above fire if not would need rethink. .the house is in a great position ,literally a 5 minute walk to the beach. This could be an amazing house just needs regular checks of amenities and some TLC. ,these are such minor things but spoil the stay and wouldnt take long to sort out ,
Michael
Sandy Shore is a 4 bed house on a small estate in Beadnell. We had a party of 4 and although upstairs there is lots of space, due to the design of the house with a double garage encroaching on downstairs downstairs space is limited. I wouldnt have wanted to be there with a party of 8! Overall, its a nice house, but it really needs to be given a good inspection and going over as there are things that could be easily fixed and made better for guests. For instance, the house has martins nesting in the eaves. No issue with that, but shouldnt the bird droppings be cleaned up before guests arrive? It would take 2 minutes. The outdoor seating shown on the photos was stacked around the side of the house. As these were the only seats with back rests to sit outside, we fetched them back around the back of the house to use. Yes they need small repairs to the backrests a 5 minute job to a competent handy man. The dining table in the main area is too big to fit in with the new fridge freezer. We turned it around to make more space. The separate lounge had a light standing in front of the TV when we arrived! We moved it to a corner of the room. It needed an extension lead to enable it to stand where it is shown on the pictures. The standard of cleaning was superficial check the top of anything and you will find thick dust E.g. the fridge freezer, top shelves in wardrobes. There are only 2 glass breakers, but lots of wine glasses and mugs. Plenty of cutlery and crockery. The windows are very stiff to open again, a few minutes maintenance would sort this out. The beds are comfortable, but one of the singles has a double socket and the switch for the outside light right next to the pillow. I would not want a child in that bed. Paintwork could do with a general refresh. A little weeding of the paved areas wouldnt go amiss. There are no oven gloves in the kitchen. So dont get me wrong. This is a nice house, but could be top notch with a little thought, time and effort. I have given it 4 out of 5 which is generous. I hope these comments are taken in the positive manner intended and used to make Sandy Shore a 5 star property.
Stayed in area for last 10 years, comparing houses this one feels tired and unloved. Garden and location great but as family of 7 only 3 glasses that weren't for wine, bought our own washing line. Biggest concern was grass cutting team just let themselves in while our two teenage daughters at home alone with dog. No knock to door? Appreciate number of houses teams clean but never had a check in as late as 5pm before so really only paying for 6 days. Love area and will keep going back but not to this house unless some money spent bringing it into 21st century.
The lovely house was comfortable & well equipped , good supply of linen ,beds ... The lovely house was comfortable & well equipped , good supply of linen ,beds comfortable For safety non slip shower mats should be provided in the showers , which are awkward to enterexit Initial impression not good with sand around front door ,lots of weeds on drive & entrance, At the back, the garden furniture was filthy , there is a problem with finessing flying birds, again a good clean required Before our visit I was sent a text with just a number , I took this up with your customer relations person , I would have liked to reply to his message of explanation , but phoned twice & no one would give me an e mail ref , as I feel I was approached by an in known person & any approach to your clients should be improved so they do not feel threatened by possible scan text
Great to find a tea pot at holiday accommodation. A great base for exploring this part of the world.
Excellent holiday and property. Great enclosed garden for the dog and beach is only a 5 minute walk away. House is beautifully presented and in a lovely area, morning coffees in the Landings and pub lunch at The Craster Inn both just a short walk.
Steven
Great house in a super location Very clean We had a great week! !
Christine
Our second visit and house still as lovely as on first visit. Walking distance to gorgeous beach and lovely cafe. Plenty of room for sitting and eating, also snug room for cosy nights in front of fire.
The property was a real treat to stay in. Very comfortable and well equipped. Ample space for our clothes and a great enclosed garden for my dog. It was great to have Netflix access and a choice of rooms to watch it in. Just to let you know the tin opener isn't working.
Location to beach fantastic, 3 min walk. Upstairs very spacious downstairs not large enough for 8 people, okay for us as only 2 plus doggie. Bed and shower lovely, house nice and warm. Garden dog friendly. House too overlooked for us, our preference. Although mostly clean in need of repaint and update to missing blinds and some kitchen utensils. Would rebook but only out of season when quite, again that's our preference and no reflection of House. We did enjoy our stay with lovely long beach walks.
We stayed at Sandy Shore over new year party of 8 adults. This is a spacious property and has everything that you need. The layout is great and there are 4 good sized bedrooms. The location of the property is ideal and close to the landings and is central to be able to walk to craster arms, beadnell towers, seahouses and Newton by the sea. I would certainly recommend this property and would definitely stay here again.
This was our 3rd visit to Beadnell and this property. It has everything we need for our family get together and is 5 minutes walk to the beach. We have already booked for next November.
Alison
Fabulous house in a perfect location! Well equipped kitchen, lots of hot water and comfy beds. Would definitely recommend!
Fantastic location, pub about 10 mins away highly recommend, beach 5 mins. House is spacious and all you could need for a family getaway. Back garden was fab for the kids and plenty of space to enjoy the summer evenings. Nicely furnished and well equipped. Requested a high chair and travel cot from the owners and even though they werent listed they were happy to provideboth in great condition. My only criticism is if youre not visiting with a pet, you do notice the smell of dog lounge sofa especially and be careful on upstairs floorsthey are a bit slippy. Very minor issues for an otherwise lovely house.
Helena
Loved the house and the area and would recommend it.
A lovely house, plenty of space. The enclosed garden perfect for our dog and small child. All household appliances we needed were provided, even a second fridgefreezer in the garage for drinks! The beach is literally a five minute walk, perfect! There are two food and drink traders next to the beach and last week the ice cream van had a permanent pitch at the entry to the beach. The village pub is about a 20 minute walk away and served lovely food. There is also a handy convenience store about a 15 minute walk away. We had a great week. Highly recommended, we would stay there again without hesitation.
