East Farm House Reviews

Patrick
We had a fantastic stay at East Farm House, it was our third. The location is blissfully peaceful and the property is clean, cosy and comfortable. Can't wait to come back again.
Hannah
Great place for families. Games room was a big hit. More information on bin days as a man queried why our bins were out, but they were already out when we arrived and didn't know when bin day was. I assume he was a local resident but maybe wrong. I'd also update your listing as we were really disappointed the local pub has closed. That was a one of the things that attracted us to the cottage, along with the games room. My son also recommends a dart
Frances
The accommodation was really comfortable, spacious, characterfull and warm which was fantastic given the freezing temperatures outside during our stay. It felt welcoming and generous in terms of plenty of toilet rolls and cleaning materials such as dishwasher tablets.
An excellent property, enjoyed by all the family. Great location and the welcome pack was fabulous, the owners had thought of everything, thank you. We would certainly go back again.
East Farm House was like stepping into an episode of Escape to the Country. Lovely, spacious house with lots of features beams, fireplace etc. Kitchen is well equipped. Beds were comfortable with good quality linen and towels. Location is perfect for exploring Hadrians Wall with a visit to The Sill a must to see the Sycamore Gap tree sculpture and enjoy some great food.
We loved this property, it had such a friendly and welcoming feel. The surrounding area is beautiful too with masses to do. It was so great to have a large garden for the grandchildren to run around too. Two minus points Many of the light bulbs in the kitchen had failed and there were none by the sink by the end of our stay. The other gripe was not the owners fault. The recycling in Northumberland is poor and we found it a real pain to dispose of empty bottles. Directions to the nearest bottle bank would have helped.
A beautiful, well appointed cottage, which we all appreciated. It was quite hot upstairs, despite keeping windows open, and this made sleeping a little troublesome. Garden is fabulous, and secure boundaries gave us peace of mind when the dogs were pottering about. Thank you!
Christine
This is the 3rd year weve stayed here. We love the whole place comfy beds, spaciousness, cleanliness and the massive improvements to the beautiful garden. There was a problem with the hot water when we arrived but it was immediately sorted. But somehow this year it lacked the personal touch we felt previously. We couldnt find an information pack, the back of the settee was broken and the summerhouse was scruffy and full of leaves. I know these are minor faults and hope it doesnt deter anyone was coming.
Elizabeth
We had a lovely holiday and enjoyed the well equipped house and garden enormously. We appreciated the fairly prompt attention to mend the leaking toilet and dripping kitchen tap, There were a few other comments the TV does not connect with the internet so only live TV available which was disappointing. Wifi in the kitchen was very unreliable even when connected to booster. Some kitchen lights were not working and extractor fan light also not working. Apologies one wine glass which are huge and a bit vulnerable! and one tumbler broke during our visit. The walls in many rooms are rather bare. None the less all in all we had a very fine time!
Barbara
We loved our stay at East Farm House. The house has all the things you need for a short holiday whatever the weather. We especially appreciated the size of the rooms, the comfortable beds and quality bedding, the location, the wonderful garden and cooking facilities. As a suggestion black out blinds in the bedrooms without shutters would be an asset. While the house is generally clean, given the high level of occupancy a regular deep clean would be desirable.
Valerie
Loved our stay at east farm house. Everything was catered for, will definitely book again in the future.
Patrick
Our stay at East Farm House was our second and we will be back next year. The property is comfortable, charming and full of character, thank you.
Rachel
The farmhouse was perfect. So spacious and clean with all of the amenities that we required. We did lots of cooking in the big kitchen. The garden was huge. My little doggies loved it. The house is also perfectly located to explore this beautiful side of Northumberland. Would highly recommend and would love to visit again in the future.
Carolyn
We had a wonderful family gettogether at East Farm House. Thank you for the generous basket of arrival treats which we enjoyed while we were there. It's a beautiful spot and we thoroughly enjoyed our weekend. We were cosy and warm in the farm house over a February weekend and there was plenty of room for all the family. We would love to return sometime in warmer weather when we could enjoy the beautiful garden too. Thank you very much!
East Farm was perfect, spacious, clean, well stocked with cutlery, crockery and all cooking utensils. It was a central point for our family to get together from different parts of the UK. The weather scuppered our plans a little with storm Eowyn making an appearance and activities and pubs that we had planned to visit being closed but we still had lots of fun. The local pub The Crown was just 5 minutes walk away and was anll weekend with a good selection of beer and the food was delicious. I will certainly recommend East Farm house to my family and friends and look forward to staying again.
Rosamond
Perfect. Enjoyed our new year break, it rained it was cold outside but that did not make any difference to us. The house was warm, very comfortable and had everything that made our stay perfect. Thank you to the owners
Shirley
Absolutely fabulous house in a lovely village with easy access to the bus ad122 and Hadrians wall. Only comments are that some of the radiators eg in bedroom closest to the bathroom were very hot and we couldnt turn it down, the rad tap didnt work. Some were cold but that didnt matter as it was warm last week but just might be worth checking. We couldnt work out how to turn heating off or use the dvd player but we are a group of older ladies who arent any good at that sort of thing! Sorry! Overall clean but a bit grubby round the taps and under the plugs, just a bit more attention to detail would give you 5 Facilities great, especially kitchen and swing bat! So nice to have access to that. Would definitely recommend this house. Thank you
Really enjoyed our stay. A very nice property in a lovely village. Such a good location for visiting Hadrians Wall and all things Roman. A note on how to get heating and hot water on would be useful as we found this difficult.
Wonderful cottage. Really enjoyed our stay. Perfect location for us. Freezer in stable totally iced over. Needs defrosting. Stair carpets needed a little more vacuuming. Toilet in 2nd Bathroom upstairs had a minor leak problem from the metal handle. We managed to deal with it eventually, but might need checking.
Beautiful house with plenty of parking and a lovely garden. The house was warm and spacious and the location was perfect for our family trip to Hadrians Wall and the surrounding area. The added bonus being the Crown pub only a few minutes away which was very welcoming and served delicious meals and a wide variety of cask ales. I do however agree with previous comments. The house would easily be 5 stars if those comments were taken on board. Namely blackout blinds in all bedrooms, a deep clean of the shower and regular defrosting of the freezer to improve its functionality.
Christine
Beautiful large farmhouse with spacious lounge, large kitchen with excellent cooker. The fridge and freezer are old and perhaps need replacing but do the job adequately. Beds are really comfortable. We used the small summerhouse for two early morning listening to the many birds singing their hearts out!
Michael
Really loved the property. Two minor complaints. We felt the mattresses were a bit tired and need replacing to ensure a good nights sleep. We were a family of six and did not feel the crockery and cutlery was sufficient. All other equipment in the kitchen was excellent. There is an unpleasant smell in the utility room. Otherwise a beautiful property and we loved staying there.
Patrick
East Farm House is a wonderful place to stay. The rooms are all very nice, the beds are very comfortable and the property is full of character! Fantastic garden. The location is superb, we really like Humshaugh and we will be back.
Deborah
My family and I went to celebrate my 60th birthday for the weekend and I couldn't have found a better cottage to stay in. We had everything we needed and the complimentary basket of food was a bonus. I would definitely return and the Village was full of friendly people.
Edwina
Had a wonderful stay, the property had everything we needed. We were impressed with the place. Very comfortable beds. A book with the history of the barn was interesting. A very nice welcome basket. We had a small problem with the heating but sorted quickly. The village was a nice quiet place, and went to The Crown Inn for a lovely meal, and having it within walking distance. The only thing lacking was an information folder, giving details of local amenities, shops, etc. Would definitely recommend this property.
Andrea
The property is everything we had hoped for, and in reality was better than the photos showed. It had large, spacious sitting room, with ample seating for many people. The cottage was full of character, and very large. Having stayed over the Christmas period, it gave us the perfect family atmosphere. We would definitly return.
Lovely place to stay house is big garden is huge and the village is so friendly
Johanne
We were very impressed with the property. It looks exactly like the photos, located in a lovely quiet village location and was spotlessly clean. We stayed for a week and it had everything we needed for our stay, including plenty of household cleaning items, kitchen staples and bathroom washing soap etc! There was a nice welcome pack upon our arrival, thank you! The house has lots of space with plenty of room including a games room which provided us with lots of fun. And its super warm for such a large house. The heating takes no time to warm up and makes it very cosy in the evening. In fact we didnt need the full basket of wood for the open fire that was left for us. We took our two dogs and it was like home from home for them having a big garden to explore. Parking on the drive for at least 4 cars too! We genuinely loved the house and would definitely recommend it. We will revisit again. The only negative is that we didnt get to enjoy the lovely garden due to the cold weather but that just gives us an excuse to come back. Thank you for letting us stay, we loved it!
Myself and two friends used East Farm House as a base for a weeks salmon fishing on the Tyne. The accommodation was first class and I would wholeheartedly recommend it for any holiday whether fishing or a simple family holiday. Great value for a huge property that sleeps 8 people in a beautiful part of the world. Loved the pool room and the local pub!
I can honestly say this was the dirtiest house we have ever booked. It needs a thorough deep clean. Dirty cutlery crockery and chopping boards put away unwashed. Work surfaces in kitchen all sticky kettle grubby I had to clean the oven door as they were so full of grease and grime they were smoking. Floor had to be washed washing machine was black round door and rim and drawer for detergent was disgusting. Cobwebs and dead flies all over. We were supposed to be left one scuttle of coal and basket of logs 2 small logs only left for us. TV did not work either. The bath. had not been cleaned and fridgefreezer in utility room was all black marks under salad drawers. I could go on!!!
Steven
It's an excellent property in a nice location, with good pub and village shop a a few minutes walk away. Extremely well stocked cupboards, lovely garden. Reservations? Could be a little cleaner quite a few dead flies and spiders and the blinds in two of the bedrooms aren't very effective at cutting out the light. But these are niggles we would recommend the place
Jackie
Lovely House. Enjoyed our family stay very much. Would return. Love Northumberland and the village of Humshaugh
Fantastic holiday home. Everything that we needed was there and was up to an excellent standard. The information on local things of interest was great and activities and games to do in the evening was perfect. Only thing we thought could have been helpful was a small seat or stool in the lobby to sit and take off or put on shoes, for those of us with ageing joints. It was really interesting to see the renovation work too.
Elizabeth
We really enjoyed our stay in your beautiful house and it was very interesting to have the photographs of how it was before and during the reconstruction. Everything seemed well thought out, very well stocked, and we loved the garden. Wonderful for the children too. And of course, it is in such a wonderful area historically and geologically. And it was immaculate. Thank you so much. in case you wondered, the previous week's recycling was not collected and I wondered if that was because some of the items were not recyclable?
Hannah
Stunning property in a beautiful location. Loads of space. Comfortable beds and sofas. The games room and great selection of board games were a great hit as was the really short walk to the great pub. Would not hesitate to recommend. Thanks
Eugene
Big spacious house with huge garden area even including a rickety gazebo take care! doors held on by solitary remaining hinge. Very well equipped, except that a few things here and there need better maintenance. Cooker extract and light not working, bedroom ceiling light doesn't work, windows get stuck, dining room needs a better light we couldn't use the room at all, we had to change a couple of bulbs ourselves, and most disturbing of all the smoke alarm malfunctioned at 5am waking everyone and the screaming siren could only be stopped by our partially dismantling the alarm! We notice the alarm had a label saying 'must be replaced by Oct 2020' ie. one year ago! The house has great potential eg. good showers, comfy rooms, nice family size kitchen, every conceivable piece of kitchen equipment except coffee machine doesn't work and great garden but does need better maintenance
Christine
We couldnt believe this farmhouse. Yes, some minor niggles with the fridge freezer and upstairs windows but the rest far outweighed these. It was spacious inside and out, with a well equipped kitchen. The garden was spacious and private, the seating in the lounge was amazing and the beds comfy. The pool table was certainly a hit with everyone. Not only was the farmhouse quiet we were near to some beautiful local walks, pubs and local shop. We loved the area particularly as we were so close to Hadrians Wall, Vindolanda, Housestead and the Roman Army came but a beautiful trip across the countryside lead to a wonderful day at Druridge Bay by the sea. We were charmed by the place and the area and would certainly visit again.
Michael
First of all I would say that it is a great property, a good size and in a very nice location but that said you have major problems that I list below, especially considering the high price of rental it leaves a lot be rectified. Cleanliness Kitchen floor lots of residual dirt built up over a long period and needs a deep steam clean as do the bathroom floors. Carpets are old and shabby and if they are being retained also need a deep clean. The sofas would benefit of the same. Bedding some of the sheets had stains on them, so washing quality is suspect. Central heating needs draining down and radiators bleeding as noisy and inefficient as well as the controls for it need replacing as in bad order. Fridge and Freezer are in bad order falling apart and freezer has not been defrosted in a long while and should be of a larger size considering the size of accommodation and number of people using it. Furniture bedroom furniture handles falling off and need repair. Lastly whoever is responsible for managing this property is not doing their job properly, for as well as the above we tried contacting them on arrival as we had a issue with the key safe via text, email and phone and NOBODY bothered to call us back to help, so all in all you will not be getting any more recommendations or business from me and I will mention this on Facebook as think you are miss selling this property.
