Caton Lane House Reviews

Elizabeth
A beautiful character filled house with all modern conveniences. A great base for exploring the Lakes. Good walks nearby, handy shop and pub. We enjoyed it
We loved our stay and would definitely recommend. The big dining table was great for playing cards and board games in the evening, we didn't use it for dining because we ate in the garden every night. We loved the quirkiness of the old house, although the taller members of our party wont miss banging their foreheads on the low doorways! Lovely clean and comfortable. I'd just say someone with small children of older family members might struggle with the steps into the garden. I'd love to return at some point.
Lovely home, spotlessly clean and comfortable. Everything we needed. Perfect and homely.
Lovely house in a good spot for travelling around the Lakes.
We had a fantastic stay at Caton house and would definitely come back! Very comfortable and super clean all round. All the dishes you could possibly need, would have been handy to keep a cupboard or two empty for us to use for food. Couldnt figure out how to get the radiator in the kitchen on so it was quite cold in that room but we didnt spend too long in there so wasnt the biggest inconvenience. We used on street parking nearby, we were weary of the nearby carpark by the childrens play park as a sign on entrance states its for short stay 1hr only. All in all we were incredibly impressed with the house especially at the rate we played which was very reasonable. Location was ideal for us, but 15mins to Newby bridge, 30mins to Windermere. Took advantage of the nearby steam train at haverthwaite and the aquarium at lakeside and did the boat ride up to Ambleside on another day too. Timings during the winter period werent ideal and made our time at Ambleside very limited
We had a wonderful stay at Caton Lane House. Our party was made up of 6 adults and 2 children who loved being able to sleep in the attic room! The house was wellequipped and very clean. Arrival was smooth and the introductory booklet very informative. Cark itself is a small village but has everything you need with a shop, pub and playpark. We found it to be an excellent base to explore the nearby area. Parking at the house is an issue, but we knew about this beforehand and were able to easily find parking around the village. Overall, a lovely house and we had a fab weekend. Im sure we will be back!
Great stay in the pretty village of Cark. House is lovely and spacious with very comfortable beds, high quality linens, big soft fluffy towels and well appointed bathrooms. Perfect for our party of 6 ladies to enjoy Cartmel races shuttle bus 4minutes walk. Impressive kitchen facilities with top quality cookware, crockery, glassware etc. Wine fridge was handy. Good coffee machine too! Everything provided for a perfect stay. Plus the bonus of The Engine pub with its decent food practically next door!

Had a wonderful week, great house & location. Will definitely visit again
Bridget
We had a lovely family Christmas at Caton Lane House. It was perfect for all our family and dogs. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything we needed including Prosecco and Christmas napkins! The Christmas tree and other decorations were a lovely gesture and it definitely had the feel of a family home rather than rental property. It was great to have the pub next door and we found a lovely 3040 minute walk across a track to Cartmel. An outside tap would have been handy to wash the dogs off but we just let them dry in the car and maybe an additional heater for the attic room. The only downside was the British weather and transport issues cut our holiday short by a couple of days as we had such a good time we would have liked to stay longer. All in all a great property in a great location.
We absolutely loved our stay at Caton Lane House, the house was immaculate and very homely. All the beds were extremely comfortable and it was lovely arriving to the heating already on. The only couple of issues we had were parking and the loft bedroom was very very cold and the guests staying in this room ended up having to squeeze into other rooms, another heater in the loft room would have been better but overall we would definitely stop at Caton Lane again but with less guests so the loft room was not needed. We had trips into Grange over sands and Cartmel which are both well worth a visit. Thank you for a lovely stay.

The whole family enjoyed their stay at Caton Lane House. It is super spacious but cosy at the same time. It has everything you need for a enjoyable get away in the countryside.
From the moment we entered the property, we knew it was going to be a magical stay and it was. The cottage, although listed and picturesque, had all the modern conveniences you could possibly need, from a fully modern kitchen with appliances such as a coffee machine, to comfortable, modern beds and a strong power shower. Every last thing had been thought of, even takeaway menus and a handy list of contact numbers, as well as board games for us to play were provided. The cottage was conveniently situated to easily get to the lakes and Morecombe, and we had some lovely days out. All in all, we had a great few days and we're already planning when we can book again.
