The Boathouse (Alnmouth) Reviews

Amanda
We had a lovely week, even though the weather was a bit variable. The accommodation is lovely and has everything you need. But at times we found the house rather cold, especially when we arrived. It took time to warm up, and my son found his bedroom very cold overnight. As some days the weather was unsuitable for us to go out, we spent more time in the accommodation and again found it cold unless the fire was on. Fire itself is not particularly effective, and the light in it doesnt work and never has in all the times weve stayed there, which would add a bit to the ambience. The ensuite in the main bedroom the radiator didnt work, and hadnt when we stayed last New Year. Also, the shower didnt work, therefore it did not fulfil its function of an ensuite bathroom which was disappointing.
The property was in a great location and with it's own parking. Lovely to sit and watch the estuary with the tide changes and the birds coming & going. We did have an issue during our stay with a couple of radiators that weren't working, which in November isn't great. We appreciate the owner did try and organise a plumber to fix things, however we all ended up only being able to use one bathroom as it was too cold to shower in the ensuite. The owner said this problem would be rectified for the next guests. Having said all that, I would definitely book again!

Having stopped at the Boat House a number of times, we find that it is the perfect hideaway in Alnmouth. Lots of room, comfortable, clean, and warm. Great views from the large lounge window. AND onsite parking. Which is a definite plus in Alnmouth. Having stopped at a number of places, both in Alnmouth, and the surrounding area, we will continue to come back to the Boat House for as long as we can. Great Place !
Rosemary
Very spacious and comfy holiday accommodation with good beds and lots of useful equipment. Children especially appreciated the few yards to the beach, wading across to church island and the play area down the road. G&T on the balcony gazing at the estuary a favourite with the adults .

This was our third visit to the boathouse, it is a really nice place to stay. We have stayed in Alnmouth on 13 occasions over the years. The property has a lovely view . The only drawback is the fact that it allows dogs, evidenced by the fact that the vacuum cleaned had a real bad doggy smell. There was a long rug in the lounge near the dining table which we had to remove as it was a trip hazard, Having said all that we have booked to return again next year.
Valerie
We all loved The Boathouse, plenty of space for 8 of us. Very well cleaned and well equipped. Great to have a balcony and views of the estuary and also a lovely garden space. Excellent to have 2 parking spaces off road, a massive bonus. We would love to return next year.
Geraint
A lovely property in a great location. It was very well equipped and it was so helpful that we did not have to buy bin bags and dishwasher tablets something we have had to do in other properties even though we were only staying for a week. It was very comfortable in the sittingroom and bedrooms. A special mention too for the person who cleans the property very clean and tidy.
Joanne
Lovely property with a fantastic view. Really well equipped, it has everything you could possibly need. Location is idyllic, just a few steps to the beach and a couple of minutes from the village and golf course. Would highly recommend a stay here.
Charlotte Hannah
Lovely house over looking the beach. All the facilities you need we really enjoyed our stay.

Excellent property, in an excellent location. Clean and comfortable. With all kitchen utensils you could wish for. 1ST class property. Highly recommended.
This was a wonderful property in a fabulous location. We will definitely come back.
We have stayed at the Boathouse several times. Its position in Alnmouth is unbeatable plus it has the advantage of parking. The amenities etc are excellent and it is very comfortable. We are a three generation family ranging in age from 7 to 74 and all agreed it was another wonderful holiday and hope to return again soon.
Brenda
This is a lovely property, with a great view. Also very comfortable beds and bedding, and very well equipped even the best jigsaw weve found to date! Very clean and blessed with 2 parking spaces.
William
The property has been recently refurbished to a high degree and is very comfortable and well laid out the use of the garden is very convenient especially if the sun shines. The view from the upstairs balcony is fantastic and the reverse living and bedroom arrangement is spot on. This is our second visit to The Boat House and we booked for next year whilst we were there. Just a few niggles the front ensuite bedroom sink was slow to drain and so was the shower also the fan was very noisy whilst using the bathroom and if the light above the sink had worked we would have used that instead. We couldnt find instructions on how to use the central heating as it was pre set and we wanted to turn it off. But we would definitely recommend this property and its location as I have said we have booked again.
A fabulous holiday cottage, comfortable well equipped and in a great position.
This was the perfect holiday let for a multigenerational family break. The house was very wellappointed, clean and comfortable. Alnmouth is beautiful and the perfect base for exploring Northumberland. We hope to return one day!

This year was the third time staying at the Boathouse and it never disappoints. Since our last stay a new kitchen has been installed which is a great update. This is a fabulous holiday home in an excellent location and would definitely stay again.

Just returned from our first stay in The Boat House. Already booked for later in the year. Excellent property, in a prime position. Cannot rate it highly enough. Well equipped kitchen, and comfortable beds. Large comfy lounge, with great views over the river. Large FULLY ENCLOSED garden, which our Labrador really enjoyed. All in all, a very pleasant stay, in a very pleasant property. First class in all departments.
Aileen
This is our 2nd visit to this property and it was great. The maintenance and updates in the whole property were noticeable. The beds and bedding were all very comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped with ample crockery and cooking utensils. The lounge was comfy and we thoroughly enjoyed the views over the balcony. There was a the long rug next to the table that was curled up at the corners and actually a trip hazard. We removed it during our stay and then returned it its position before leaving. Other than that we had a brilliant time!
Kathleen
Excellent in every way.
Property is in great location but needs some tlc. Kitchen is below standard for such a property.
This is our 3rd time at the Boathouse and we had another wonderful holiday. We love its position with the added bonus of parking. Perhaps because it is coming to the end of the holiday season it is beginning to need some attention to paintwork etc but this certainly did not affect our holiday and we have already booked again for next year.
Collette
Love this property. This was our second time visiting and have booked for next year.
You rang me about a leak in the bedroom as we were travelling up on the first Saturday. Someone came to fix it but unfortunately it still leaked we put a bowl and put a tea towel round the leak as the carpet was getting wetter and wetter. I called you to advise that the leak was still leaking and you advised us to leave the key we did this as requested. We think someone came in because the linen cupboard door upstairs was open and this was previously locked but the leak was still leaking. As we had no further contact from you we went out, however when we returned later that day someone had been in the property as the linen cupboard was locked again but the leak was still not fixed. Also you might want to tell the owners that the oven does not work correctly the first time we tried to use it it tripped the electric so it must have a faulty connection somewhere. The oven door does not shut with a seal it only fans cold air. We had taken some food with us to have but due to the oven not working we had to use the microwave. As you will be aware microwave food is ok for re heating but if you have to cook in one some food items just go soggy so we ended up throwing them away. To be honest the whole place needed a pull through if youre paying well over a thousand pounds and its not even in high season yet, you expect things to at least work correctly.
Beverley
The house is in a stunning location with views onto the estuary and beyond. The house itself is well equipped, spacious and warm. The garden is beautiful and for those going in the summer is ideal for sitting out in. Could not fault this place.
Anthony
A lovely stay at The Boathouse, what an amazing property and beautiful views. We also had the benefit of lovely weather. We were a little apprehensive because of some of the property reviews but felt these were totally unjustified, certainly in terms of the property being 'tired'. It was comfortable, warm, spacious and wellequipped. No better spot for enjoying a cup of coffee overlooking the harbour each morning! We will definitely book this property again.
We really love staying at The Boathouse, but it definitely needs a little TLC before wed consider booking again. Its starting to look tired, and issues from last year remained this year with some having got worse. Examples of this Bath which is otherwise lovely has no overflow pipe connected, and an exposed hole meaning there is a risk of flooding if the bath is filled. cupboards and drawers in the kitchen are tired and some difficult to open drawers need hinges fixing cupboard above the oven equipment in kitchen was broken cheese grater, but kitchen was well stocked otherwise, although a random selection of glasses rather than 8 of each type. tiles down the side of the ensuite below the sink were mouldy and need a good clean. paintwork that is marked and needs touching upredoing once a year. All of the above said, the cottage furniture, set up, and location works well, and if the above could just be addressed I think it would justify the cost. Thanks Karen
Maxine
A lovely property in a good position. All you need inside to have a good and comfortable stay. The property is though a little tired and some TLC would at some stage be a good idea. Having said that it did not stop us having a wonderful time. The private parking was also a bonus.
Excellent location, spacious and well equipped accommodation. Will definitely be back.
Fantastic property with amazing views. Perfect location and really well equipped and comfortable. Thankyou we had a lovely week and hope to book again.
We had a lovely stay at this excellent property. Although we were only a group of four there would have been plenty of room for eight. Plenty of kitchen equipment, seating and good bathrooms. So close to beach and small village with a great deli and a couple of restaurants. Thoroughly recommend it for a holiday in Northumberland.
Love the refurbishment. The sofas are comfortable and new bedroom furniture useful.
Well appointed property. In close proximity to all amenities with bonus of two car spaces. Clean, warm and comfortable with spectacular estuary views . This is our second time at this property and a favourite of ours.
Lovely house and location always enjoy staying at The Boathouse. .........
This was a halfterm break with a couple, two girls, Grandma and Chilly, our dog. It was a perfect place for us. The house itself was more than big enough and well equipped. It was a comfortable house and we especially enjoyed the view over the estuary and sunsets. We were on the beach in literally seconds and Alnmouth is a lovely, special little place. It&39s also especially dog friendly. We&39d recommend The Boathouse and Alnmouth.
Well equipped family holiday home with excellent views over the estuary.
A fantastically furnished cottage, great layout for large group of friends or family. Excellent location, minutes from beach with stunning views of estuary. Off street parking a big bonus in a very busy village. Great place for a family Christmas.
Excellent standard of accommodation in a great location. Very cosy and spacious. Gorgeous safe enclosed garden.
Good location and plenty of space. Beds were comfortable. The village was nice and friendly. Very good place to stay.
