Garth Hill House, Ambleside

This house is absolutely fantastic for a large family get together. Each couple had their own bathroom and the house is furnished to a very high standard with everything you could possibly need in terms of dishes and glasses. One recommendation would be a family sized slow cooker which we definitely would have made use of. The dog shower was essential after a muddy walk and the dehumidifier in the porch also helped with drying wet walking gear. Fantastic location and ample parking for four large cars with an EV charging point but not a tethered hose so need to bring your own. We will hopefully return next year and highly recommend this house to others. Thank you owners for the huge amount of care and attention you have put into making this house so comfortable and beautiful.

We had a great stay at Garth Hill House. The property is stunning with ample space for a family gathering there were 12 in our party. And plenty of parking too! Situated on a quiet road but only 510 minutes walk into town was ideal for us. The only small issue we had was that I thought from the blurb that there would be 5 king size rooms and 1 twin as default. There were 3 of each. I think this is my fault as I didn't specify what configuration we wanted. So, I'll know in the future to specify my preferences. It wasn't a problem, the rooms and beds were large and comfortable. We would definitely stay here again!

This is one of the best houses the group have stayed in. It was fitted out with everything we needed. Often we have to take dw tabs washing up liquid etc for example but not to this house. I counted 19 coat hangers in my wardrobe when often there are never enough. The games room is a real bonus for fun times for everyone. The only flaw are the settees in the lounge. We have met this before in housescottages. They are never comfortable but we can see why the owners buy them. It's a pity because they are needed throughout the day. What a stay! This was our annual get together for 6 women in their 50s who like a room and bathroom to themselves, space to cook and most importantly a large lounge to feel cosy and relaxed for many hours of catching up.Things we adored the log burner, the privacy, parking, proximity to town just a 5 minute walk with a teeny tiny hill in comparison to some holiday accommodation in the area, kitchen facilities, cleanliness, tvs in every room using the apps to connect with spotify and streaming channels, welcome pack, photo of dog in one of the rooms, supermarket delivery is easy, Ambleside is the cosiest friendliest place in the Lakes and everything else. What to watch out for the basement bedroom is below the lounge so the floor boards are quite sqeaky, don't put somewhere in here who likes long lies, wine fridge won't chill down wine put in at room temp always prechill fridge first, get the heating on as soon as you arrive as it takes about an hour to get to temp general tip not specific to this property. The town is a magical busy hubbub of independent stores, outdoor stockists, pubs and cafes. This is our second visit and we were all set to book Garth Hill for the following year but it is already booked 2027 we will be back. I cannot recommend this place enough, the home and the town just create magical memories you will treasure book it now! Also shout out to the man who came to help me with the key he arrived within 10 minutes of calling.

Fabulous property, great public space for socialising, and absolutely no weak bedrooms, they are all beautiful. Great location too. I guess, if the house was full with six couple, parking would be a challenge, but we only had two cars so ideal for us.

From booking, to arrival, our stay, location and departure it was fantastic! We have stayed in many properties for large groups over the years, but Garth Hill house has to be the best by far. A property that has been done to a very high standard and the hosts have literally thought of everything. The rooms are all spacious, with the most comfiest of beds and bedding. The communal spaces are all designed to give a real feeling of togetherness. An outstanding property, that will not disappoint. We rebooked around the breakfast table on our day of departure! Our stay at Garth Hill was fantastic. When you book a 5 star rated property you have high expectations and on this occasion the property exceeded even these! The house is stunning, very well kept, clean and fresh. Every single room was well appointed with comfortable beds and spacious bathrooms. The kitchendining room was a great space for the whole family, and with the cut through to the living room we always felt like we were together as a family. In terms of location, it doesn't get much better, we parked the cars on Monday on arrival and never drove again until we left. Ambleside has so much to offer right on the doorstep and Garth Hill is in immediate short walking distance of everything. We would undoubtedly stay here again if holidaying with the wider family. I would thoroughly recommend this property to anyone.

Fabulous property and ideal for our party of ten celebrating our daughter's 40th birthday. Our weekend coincided with Storm Amy so didn't get out much but the pool table, dart board and football table were well used. Very close to the centre of Ambleside for shopping and lunch when we did manage to get out. We all decided that we should come back again.

This is a lovely place to stay in tip top condition and handily placed for all the amenities of Ambleside. Very spacious bedrooms and bathrooms, fabulous kitchendiner. Lovely views from rear windows. My friends and I were all thrilled to bits with the property. Thank you.

Fantastic house with a relaxed feel to it that made our stay very comfortable and relaxing. It is a very social house which was great as all family could mix together with ease. Location was perfect close to the town but with great views of the surrounding area getting the best of both. We all agreed we would definitely stay here again when we return to Ambleside.

An incredible house in the perfect position! ! Garth Hill house is finished to an amazing standard with every conceivable extra thought of. The rooms are all very generous and there are wonderful communal areas for 12 or many quiet nooks to get away the crowd in small grouos. We had a great week with wall to wall sunshine, with our whole extended family 11 adults, a 15 month old and 2 dogs. It has stunning views and is easy strolling distance into Ambleside. The icing on the cake was various daily flybys at low level by fighter jets past the back of the house!!

What a beautiful stylish home. We had a great time with 12 friends spending the weekend. Plenty of space and facilities to make it comfortable and enjoyable. Will definitely check it out for our next weekend together

Fantastic home for a large group of friends. Very rare do you get a property that allows all guests to have rooms of equal space and quality. Garth Hill House is furnished to a high quality and is beautiful. Everything you need for a comfortable stay from glassware to cutlery all there in abundance. The location is amazing, close to the centre and fabulous walks. Will definitely be booking again for a return visit.

Lovely accommodation in the centre of Ambleside. Kitchen was fully equipped with a large table perfect for family meal times. All the bedrooms were spacious with comfortable beds. Great porch area for storing boots and coats with a dehumidifier to dry out our clothes after long wet walks. Huge sofa in the living area where we could all fit on and settle down to watch films of an evening. We had a great week there and would definitely return.

Spent Christmas at Garth Hill House with our family, the house was great, everything we needed and more. We cooked Christmas dinner, the kitchen was excellent, well equipped, providing everything we needed. Lovely welcoming touch of chocolates and wine and a Christmas tree. Definitely recommend Garth Hill House for a large family gathering. Thank you

House is lovely, we had an issue with the heating but alternative heaters were provided quickly and every effort was made to resolve the fault. Appreciated the Christmassy feel and was spacious for the group. We couldnt use the electric charger after downloading the app it said the charger wasnt available for public charging would be great to resolve as handy being able to charge at the house. As an alternative we went to booths supermarket.

What an amazing place to stay. The house had everything and was beautiful. We loved our stay here so much that we have already rebooked for next year.

A fabulous house for large group, close to Ambleside centre. The house has everything you would want to go away, the only negatives things we feel for a large group were the limited coffee pods and a single oven, I do feel you are expected to take everything, there were only a couple of bin bags, no washing up liquid or bristle pad. The internet didnt work, the owner did look into this straight away and the TV aerial stopped working on our last night. These are all minor things which can be resolved and we would definitely return to the house, we had a wonderful stay.

Wow what a view! The house was in a beautiful, quiet location. Close to the centre of Ambleside with all its amenities and top notch walking shops and pubs. Although the house is situated in the centre of Ambleside, the views were gorgeous, with extensive views from the house across the hills. I enjoyed sitting on the sofa with the fire on, looking out of the window. It is well connected to walks straight from the house, or a short drive away. We enjoyed a walk up Wansfell. We also did some days out at Coniston Lake and Ullswater, which are both a short drive away. Both with lovely walks, boat hire and cafes. The house was well equipped, with lots of things to keep the children entertained. There was lots of space for the whole party to be together or to have time apart. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, thank you very much, we would like to stay again.

I have to say that we all know things can go wrong with properties, but the way the owner dealt with our problems so quickly and efficiently was excellent. We loved our stay and strongly recommend Garth Hill House. Great accommodation in a perfect location. Everything we could have hoped for.

The property is amazing, and couldnt be more comfortable, spacious and wellappointed. Guests want for absolutely nothing! Even in the kind of inclement weather we encountered several rather wet days! there is so much to enjoy in the house that we almost didnt notice the rain. From table football to pool games, to many a happy hour baking in the wonderful kitchen, we were fantastically entertained. A huge credit to the hosts, who have been so very thoughtful in creating a holiday home that truly caters for all homely and inviting but also feels really special. They really have thought of everything! The house provides the perfect base for exploring Ambleside which has so much to offer and is a short hop to the likes of Grasmere, Coniston and Windermere a true Lakes experience. We had a wonderful holiday and couldnt recommend Garth Hill House highly enough.

The family really enjoyed the stay at Garth Hill House, thanks to the owners for taking such great care to ensure that the guests could enjoy the home. The small children and teenagers all enjoyed their time together in this home from home.

In general the property Garth Hill House fitted our requirements very well. it is spacious and very well equipped and in an ideal location on the outskirts of Ambleside. A couple of things that are worth noting are. The washing machine seemed to take hours to cycle. This could have been operator problem however several operators had attempts without success. The noise insulation between floors is very poor and every movement above can be heard. Not really a huge problem for a one week family stay but worth noting. The garden is a bit of a mess and could be much better kept and more colorful. Overall a good house for a large family get together. Robert

This is a large 6 bedroom deluxe property decorated and maintained to the highest of standards. All the bedrooms are large with plenty of storage space, with 5 of the six having onsuite and the sixth having a separate bathroom. The kitchen is large with all modern appliances and everything you would need for cooking and catering for a large group. Joined onto the kitchen is a large dinning table with seating for 14. The lounge has a 75 TV and soundbar and more than adequate U shaped sofa arrangement to cater for large parties. All in all it provided for a great 4 day stay in the heart of Ambleside.

The house is stunning and beautifully presented throughout. We loved our special stay there for my 70th! Games room lovely extra and was perfect for fun evenings. Just few things to point out as we realise this has only been in operation since October With large parties of people who may well be put at different times definitely need more than one key! The cleaners really should put out bins on Wednesdays as we arrived Wed afternoon and didnt read thro guest info immediately! Also the bin bag storage area was full of other peoples bags as was the main bin! Definitely should provide more loo rolls. We were very surprised that no shower gel was provided. Only bathroom cleaner in shower area. My main issue is with Sykes themselves Im afraid. No telephone numbers can be answered. All cut off after information suggesting using your app or WhatsApp or email for contact. I tried all threeno answers to emails and extremely slow responses5 days to reply on WhatsApp and not giving any helpful answers. Very unimpressed with customer services.

We visited the property for a long weekend to celebrate a big birthday. Four generations and two dogs meant we had a range of needs, from accessible ground level bedroom through to games room, and Garth Hill had it all. Very handily placed to walk into Ambleside itself. Even a minor postvisit snag was quickly resolved by the owners. Thank you.

Garth Hill House is an exceptional property. It is centrally located in Ambleside. It is ideal for large family groups. It has everything you would ever need provided in the house .It is by far the best holiday property we have stayed in. The views from the house are stunning and this all contributed to a wonderful holiday.

Wonderful property in the heart of Ambleside yet located in a quiet and private street. The property boasts 6 exceptional bedrooms, all spacious and well equipped. Kitchen and dining area easily accommodated all guests with a huge dining table perfect to share stories after a day of exploring. Views of the surrounding hills were breathtaking, especially from the balconies from the dining area, games room and onto the garden.
