The windmill was lovely, however as an old building I guess the floorboards creaked everytime someone moved in the night so sleep was heavily affected. lovely ptoperty though

This is an amazing place to stay! ! Our first impressions as we approached were that it was a magnificent and huge! building! And so picturesque! We found it a little 'creepy' on the first night...its an old, mostly wooden windmill with lots of nooks and crannies for the spiders to hide out not that we actually saw any really! and its VERY creaky..BUT we soon made ourselves at home and ended up loving it so much! Having initially opted to sleep on the top floor, I soon switched to a lower level as it is A LOT of stairs! But it's so quirky. The rooms are beautiful especially the master and we had everything we needed. The kitchen was so well equipped...better than most we've stayed in. We enjoyed a games night and movie night in the beautiful lounge area, and a couple of pool evenings downstairs as well as enjoying drinks in the spacious garden area...in fact we feel the garden is a selling point as we were concerned when we booked as the outdoor space wasn't highlighted and it really should be! This was a great place to explore various areas..we visited Liverpool and Blackpool as well as local Knowsley Safari Park and Lancashire Canal Cruises. I personally wouldn't have wanted to take really small children as would be very difficult and potentially unsafe with all stairs. We are a family of 5 with 3 teens and it was perfect for us! Good communication with host too. We were very sad to leave!! Great holiday

We were disappointed with not to be able to sit out on the balcony as advertised due to locked door. No bedside lamps. The patio doors in the pool room were very dirty. Outside the property needs a lot of TLC and very little information in the folder. The property is in a lovely setting and a lot more could be made of it.

We had a wonderful time at the Windmill. Comfortable place to relax and enjoy. The facilities excellent and an excellent building to stay in. The only thing we could say 6 of us, is creaky floorboards and lighting in the TV lounge room not so good for reading, ie ceiling lights?, but not detrimental to our stay there and enjoyment. Would recommend the Windmill wholeheartedly.

The windmill was a unique accommodation for our short break. Its well maintained, has all the facilities you need, and is comfortable. Highly recommend.

Wow what an amazing property, it has been restored beautifully. Kitchen area and equipment, I wanted to go shopping and cook. Beds very comfortable, creaky floor boards but it's an old building. Lots of stairs as it is on 6 floors but safe and steady. A great friends weekend away.

Great place to get away! Peace and quiet and the Windmill is an interesting historical feature to stay in. Will be back!

WOW, fantastic location, very secure, great views from the top, great facilities, pool table, what more do you want. I can see the creaky floorboards might be a problem for any light sleeper but didn't bother us, just added to the atmosphere. Couldn't find any recycling bins though, only the one bin down by the main gate which I thought was for general waste. Apart from that, top draw accomodation.

Absolutely stunning place to stay! Situated next to a farm which was nice. It was so peaceful here, you couldn't hear anything except the animals occasionally. All bedrooms were well equipped and cosy, as was the kitchen and lounge. Two lovely sized showers to choose from, plus a lovely big bath. I thoroughly recommend a holiday here, you won't be disappointed!

What fantastic accomodation! The Windmill met and surpassed our expectations with all the comforts of home and more! Children and adults in our family were all equally excited before our stay and equally impressed afterwards! Great location too with lots of day trip locations or part day activities within minutes or up to an hour away. Some lovely villages and towns nearby and we didn't visit a pub we wouldn't return to. Lazy evenings in the Windmill were great too, watching and listening to the wildlife and farm life all around.

What a fabulous property! Listing undersells it with no mention of the dishwasher we almost didnt book for this reason or the pool table which was well used. Everything you could need is in the kitchen including an air fryer and coffee machine. Location is great it feels remote but is only a short drive to Tesco and even our big kids loved seeing all the animals in the neighbouring fields! As others have mentioned, the floorboards creak but for us it just added to the character of the property, as did the dawn chorus in the eaves every morning. One of the best places weve stayed and we felt it was great value given its size.massive!!!

We had an amazing time at the Windmill over Christmas. The photos dont do it justice. Each room was large and unique. From the well equipped kitchen, to the comfortable living area to the spacious bedrooms. The pool table and football nets were an added bonus. The panoramic views in each room were spectacular. I was apprehensive about cooking Christmas dinner in a different kitchen. I neednt have worried. It was better equipped than my own and all the appliances are easy to use. It was lovely to have the space for everyone else to sit in the dining area and feel part of it too. We all thoroughly enjoyed it and didnt want to leave.

We had a wonderful stay! This property is fantastic for families with young children. We had planned lots of activities for our weekend but the kids wished to spend more time at the windmill. The fresh towels and bedding was appreciated! The rooms were spacious and all the rooms had a special feel to them. We were worried about the place getting too cold, but it retained heat really well and felt cosy and warm throughout the weekend. The football nets in the back garden were a great addition for our family. We were able to visit a great pub nearby, walk along the canal, and even pop to Tesco for supplies. I highly recommend the windmill for a wholesome stay. As already listed, people with mobility issues may struggle with the winding staircases. There are also some creaky floorboards which impacted on the people sleeping in the lower rooms. Overall, a wonderful stay for us!

A very unique and amazing place to stay with spectacular panoramic views on every floor. The first floor rooms are the large kitchen with a cosy seating area and dining area and spacious sitting room with very comfortable sofas and big TV. The next 3 floors are ensuite bedrooms. All the rooms are beautifully decorated. There is also a garden with a sit out area. The only consideration are the creaky floorboards which separate each floor which can be heard below and do not offer as much sound proofing as the ceilings at home. However for us this added to the ambience. The Windmill was well equipped with a high chair.and cot, as well as snooker table, toilet and utility area on the ground floor. The windmill is unique and is highly recommended. All.of us three families would love go come back.

The windmill is fabulous and Tiffany was very friendly and helpful. However the beds aren't very comfortable and the property needs a deep clean. We would stay there again.

Lovely location for a family stay. Windmill farm next door and Martin mere within a mile for another good day out. Windmill is in excellent condition with sleeping for 8 and kitchen easily accommodates.

We had 3 nights in this wonderful property between Christmas and New Year. We were pleased it was decorated for Christmas and it looked so inviting and welcoming on arrival. We had a lovely gift of wine and shortbread too. The windmill was decorated and fitted out to a high standard and spotlessly clean and we weren't short of anything. The location was ideal too. Martin Mere nature reserve is just a short walk away and well worth a visit. We visited Liverpool and Formby beach just a short drive away. We had a wonderful stay and would very much like to return one day. My two grandsons loved It.

Hi We stayed at the farm for just over a week. It was such a beautiful experience the Windmill is stunning! and the views were amazing specially to wake up and see the lovely farm animals. The house is located in such a convenient spot to Southport and other close cities and shops... And even the train station. You can do lovely walks by the canal just down the road or even head to the nearby beaches. Matt and all the family has put in a lot of work to make the place a home away from home.... with all the necessary necessities made available to anyone living there.... Your kids would really really enjoy it as ours did... Thanks so very much for a wonderful stay... From my experience of staying at other Locations we have had to call the owner at least once for something or the other... But in this case at the Windmill we booked and had to make no contact for nothing.... So peaceful and beautiful and perfect. It was lovely! The only wee quibbles were i kitchen utensils could only find one tiny kitchen knife, no serving spoons and ii no recycling bin to be found. But generally very special, very lovely. It felt like being in the Weasely's home if you like Harry Potter references.

We loved our stay at the Windmill! The property was really cool and different and was perfect for a group of friends like us. Only a few little things felt like they were missing like sugar, salt & pepper, cooking oil etc. Would definitely recommend the Windmill!
