Willow Cottage Reviews

Felicity
Cant fault Willow cottage, we had a wonderful few days here. It was perfect for us 3 adults, 2 kids and a dog deceptively spacious and well appointed. The garden was a good size with a gate to access the huge field at the back where the kids played. Silent at night other than the owl! and you could see all the stars as theres no light pollution. Walking distance to the shore, pub, coop and lovely cafe. Drove and hired a boat on Windermere as the weather was so nice. So peaceful and unspoilt with beautiful walks on the doorstep. We will be back!
Willow Cottage is a delightful place to stay. Beautifully equipped, immaculately clean and so welcoming. A lot of thought and care has gone into making this a great holiday home. We are very grateful to Lesley for letting us know we could arrive a little earlier and leave a little later. We have already booked again for October
Judith
Having just returned from a lovely holiday at Willow Cottage, I would like to highly recommend this period property set in the lower lakes at Silverdale. This is a spacious cottage that accommodates 8 and a pet, we all thoroughly enjoyed our time there and had lots of family pop in for a visit and a lovely meal cooked by our in house chef in the super kitchen. In summer this cottage would be lovely, it has a two tier patio and access to an open field which served our boys well for Rugby practice! We had several trips into the Lake District to visit our favourite haunts, not far by car, beautiful scenery and quiet roads just bliss. Our lovely host Lesley was available if needed.
Graeme
We loved Willow Cottage, its in great place with walks all around and a lovely village with pub and a great butchers shop. The garden and views from it were amazing, and we much appreciated the communication from the owner allowing us to check in a bit earlier and leave a bit later. We are planning to return.
Timothy
A beautiful cottage, the decor and furnishings were of a high standard and very tasteful. Comfortable and spacious with excellent views. Loved the balcony and pretty garden. Silverdale is an unspoilt little village with all amenities needed and wonderful, scenic walks, absolute gem.
Stuart Barry
Really enjoyable stay. House equipped with everything you could need.
Catherine
What a wonderful house! Beautifully maintained and furnished in a fantastic location. It worked well for three generations of our family. Lesley could not have been more helpful. We are looking to book again as soon as the school holiday dates are announced.
We had a great week! Lovely property in wonderful surroundings. Including the visit by deer and cows in the field! Everything was spot on except a few cobwebs with flies in the corner of the windows and dusty skirting boards but thats just me! Honestly, it was fab!
Staying at Willow Cottage was like a week in heaven
Alison
Lovely property, clean and well supplied with everything needed. Absolutely beautiful location with a field at the back of the house, making it even more quiet and peaceful. Perfect for our stay.
Property was in a great location, very clean & comfortable. We liked the outlook from the kitchen and the decking patio area. For the owner Opening some doors can be a problem due to round door knobs shiny smooth material, particularly the lounge door. Barking dogs next door were annoying at times but appreciate there is little you can do to stop or reduce this.
Astrid
Excellent property in nice location Thoroughly recommend especially if you have a furry friend as lots of walks in the village.
Kenneth
Lovely well equipped cottage in a superb location, the property is well ... Lovely well equipped cottage in a superb location, the property is well maintained and fully equipped with a fantastic outdoor area for nice weather, it comfortably sleeps 7 people and nice touch from owner texting to welcome us and say goodbye when we were leaving, would 100 recommend and will probably look again for autumn

This cottage was the perfect location and size for our family of 8, consisting of adults and children, and our Christmas vacation of 10 days. The facilities within the cottage are well stocked and provided everything needed for comfort and catering. And proper large wine glasses and champagne flutes, this was a treat. Once we understood the heating controls we were cosy and had great 10 nights of sleep with very comfortable beds. Good hot showers in both bathrooms. It accommodates very well for dogs too, it is indeed dogfriendly. It's a wellloved house and we have already booked our 2025 return. The area is just lovely, there's a large sandy beach when the tide goes out at the estuary, which is less than 10 minutes walk from the cottage and a couple of pubs within minutes from the beach. This added to the delight of our strolls out and about. Cottage is perfect for location and accommodation, an allrounder.

The property was perfect for a group of 7 2 families, 3 children total. The location was optimal with regard to proximity to Lancaster and the Lake District. The owner was on top of everything. Very cordial and ready to assist, she helped us take care of minor issues related to the heating, which made for a smooth and warm stay. Nothing beats a great place that has such a welcoming landlady.
A lovely stay in a really comfortable cottage. Great facilities and really comfortable beds! And a lovely location very close to the beach. The only things that could be added to make it perfect are a cafetiere and a larger chopping board! Otherwise everything we needed was there.
Catherine
Willow cottage was beautiful. It had everything you could ever need. There was a lovely welcome pack when we arrived, including treats for our dog. The hosts had condidered everything. Instructions were there and a contact number, should we need any help. Stunning views from the back garden. Everyday we saw deer and other wildlife. A very peaceful area. The beds were very comfy and we slept well. We will definitely be rebooking.
Sharon
We had a lovely stay at Willow Cottage. It is on a quiet road and close to the village centre which has 2 pubs, lovely coffee shop, convenience store and a butchers. There are lovely walks straight from the door and easy access to South Lakes. We found the lounge, beds very comfortable and bathroom and shower great, there was plenty of hot water and heating. The kitchen is a bright and airy social space and leads to a lovely terrace and garden that backs onto a lovely meadow, our small dog was very safely enclosed and fascinated by the cows in the meadow! The sunsets from the terrace was fabulous! The property has undergone a very significant refurbishment and some decorative snags are being sorted out, this in no way deterred from the pleasure of staying at Willow and we will be booking again.
This should be a nice property once the building work has been completed and the snagging carried out. These issues have been reported. Although advertised for 8 people this seems ambitious given the need for more essentials, e.g. mugs and cooking equipment. There were only 2 loo rolls, no kitchen roll, and we only found the dish cloths on Day 6. The shower room is also very small, cramped and dark. For those with a dog the garden is not secure at the bottom and there were frequently cows in the field. There was no visitor information, e.g. emergency numbers, shops, eating places, or information about recycling we did what we could with the latter.
