The Deck House Reviews

Within the property we had everything we needed it was well equiped well presented clean tidy and homely located in a fantastic place.
Best location on this street. In the corner, lots of private space. Felt lovely and secluded. Problem with toilet flush that was sorted within the hour.

Best location on this street. In the corner, lots of private space. Felt lovely and secluded. Problem with toilet flush that was sorted within the hour.
Great location, and a great house but in growing need of attention in lots of areas. Blinds are falling down in sitting area, shutters broken in others, toilet doesnt flush properly in both upstairs loos. Pillows everywhere and duvets in bunks need replacing. Patio door is hanging off, whole hinge gone, doesnt feel safe security wise. Washer dryer doesnt not dry! Generally needs some care before it gets any more run down. Can tell it was well done originally but needs the owner to spend some money getting up to 5 star rating again. Fix them and wed be back!
We had a lovely time and really enjoyed the property and its proximity to the beach . Also the peace and quietness were much appreciated. There were parts of the property that need attention i.e some paintwork needing doing and the blinds needed repair. However it did not detract from our stay. We would love to return sometime in the future.
Claire
2nd visit to the property. Love the location and the style of the house. We will be back next year.
Excellent holiday home. Attention to detail was evident and all equipment and services available. Very comfortable home. Excellent location to beach and amenities. Only slight issue was shower facilities were basic and the handle and frame needed repair. It was a minor issue and in contrast to the high standard of the property. Thats said.. would recommend this accommodation.
Elizabeth
Lovely property. Would definitely return. Location is perfect for the beach and easy walk into the village. House is beautifully decorated and we enjoyed using the Woodburner.
This was a fabulously located property with much to like about it including very comfortable beds and high end furnishings. Overall we had a superb time but there were definitely several things worth improving. The 4pm entry was not honoured, we had to wait until 4.15 and on entry all the floors were still went, not ideal. Lots of windows with no curtains or blinds and several areas which need attention including rotting wood in the ensuite and chipped and discoloured paintwork. We have taken photographs if this will help. Happy to forward if necessary.

Our second stay at The Deck House. We love its quiet location and closeness to the beach. Access to tennis courts is an added bonus. It is well equipped.
We have a lovely stay , 5 adults and 2 children, more than enough room for us all , very clean and well equipped, beautiful property and the location is first class! And the adjacent pond and surrounding area was abundant with wildlife, Rabbits , herons , all manner of birds, and my favourite which was the weasels lots of fun to watch! And the amazing sunset over looking the pond , , The only problem we did have was using the dryer on the washer dryer, not sure if its broken or it was just us that couldnt work it properly!
Lovely relaxing, peaceful holiday. Close to the Beadnell beach. Property was as described. Would recommend and stay again. The only thing that would enhance the outside space, would be more definitionprivacy of outside sitting area. But overall, totally satisfied.
Vv good. Thought of everything. Comfortable, warm v convenient for beach and walks. Quiet site.
Caroline
Had a really lovely stay at The Deck House, the location is fabulous, only a few minutes from Beadnell Bay. The house was clean & well equipped, we only slept in the king bed & it was very comfortable, the ensuite is a little tight but perfectly adequate, the main bathroom was very spacious though. We will definitely visit again.
Joanne
Lovely week in a stylish cottage. We have stayed on this little holiday estate before so knew the location was amazing so near the beach. I was concerned about recent reviews re the cleanliness but they must have changed cleaners because it was fineoven clean too! House is decorated nicely and kitchen great. These houses are expensive to stay in so a couple of suggestions outdoor area could do with some work. Its one of the only houses without an enclosed decking area so could be an issue for small children. Not for us. Garden furniture very heavy wood and not comfortable at all. This was a shame as we had amazing weather and its an afternoon sun trap. Yes there is building work going on next to itdidnt bother us particularly and is a good 200m away. You cant see much of it now as the houses in view are now built. Sometimes a strong smell coming from the main bathroom too. None of this would stop us coming back. It really is a lovely house and Beadnell a great village with a good pub, shop, new restaurant in car park, close to beach and dunes.
Rachel
Lovely family week away in beautiful Beadnell. House is in a great location for family holiday. Despite the rainy weather we still managed beach days, trips to Bamburgh, Alnwick & Holy Island etc. walk to Low Newton for quick drink at The Ship Inn. Disappointed with fish & chips from Joiners Arms at Low Newton, but Trotters sandwich shop in Seahouses is always a family favourite. House is spacious & comfortable ish but fixtures & fittings in need of a little TLC, such as rip in sofa which are looking tired and worn, needs repairingcleaningreplacing. Oven needs a deep clean, had to clean oven before putting food in it. Kitchen utensils need updating no pizza cutter & can opener doesnt work, dustpan is broken. Toilet flush sometimes doesnt work and the ensuite shower sometimes doesnt drain properly. Also, kitchen floor needed cleaning as looked like something had been spilt under the table and several cobwebs in places but especially on the high ceiling. As this property has a Sykes rating of 5 ticks and rating of 4.5 very good, we expected the property to be of a higher standard than what it was.
Andrew
Deck House is situated in a fantastic position for a family beach holiday with all the comforts of your own home and only two minutes from a wonderful beach . Also a very quiet area .but within a very short distance to some lovely villages and lots of pubs and restaurants to visit we would certainly return for another holiday .
Robert
Amazing cottage, cant fault that one bit. unfortunately, the septic tank wasn't working properly which tripped an alarm on the control box outside the house. This continued to sound all day and all night Friday to Thursday. I contacted the number on my booking info and reported the problem and sent a video of what was happening. the lady tried her best to contact the owners to sort out but nothing happened until the Thursday. I had been using the house for work purposes, commuting into Scotland and the borders so I didn't get a lot of sleep between starting early and finishing late. Apart from this the cottage was absolutely amazing and I will hopefully be booking this place in the Summer.
I arrived there in the dark and the estate is poorly lit so I had a little difficulty locating the property as it wasn't possible to read house numbers. Once located and inside, the house was exactly as pictured on the website. The house is well equipped and was clean and comfortable. There really isn't anything negative to say. It was a relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable week in a lovely home and I was sorry to leave. I would certainly recommend it to family and friends. My 5yr old grandsons rated it the best holiday house ever, which is high praise indeed!
Claire
Beautiful house, perfect location and bonus of tennis courts that residents are able to use. Fully equipped kitchen and very comfy beds. Very very small criticism as were there until 22nd Dec, no Christmas decorations!
Anthony
Log burner out of action due to door seal hanging off. A number of bulbs not working eg cooker hood and bedside lamp. Ingrained food remnants in between wooden planks on dining table and on the surface. Windows smears, showing previous inhabitants handprints. Lack of detailed attention to cleanliness. Compared to other Sykes cottages we have stayed in ,it fell below par in attention to detail.
Lovely house with really comfy beds. Kids loved having use of tennis courts and surrounding area is beautiful. Window seat was a hit too. Few niggles such as cracked dustpan and we didn't find the sofas particularly comfortable but overall really enjoyed our stay.
Great location and base to explore Northumberland, property was extremely well equipped and perfect for our needs
Jonathan
Superb position at a great harbour village. The proximity to the beach, coastal walk or cycle is excellent. We have booked next year! Areas for improvement would be the drainage in the en suite shower, the flush mechanism on the downstairs toilet and a little more cutlery. Otherwise just wonderful.
garet Isabel
Beautiful property in a great spot for the beach. Ensuite shower has a problem draining & water builds up on the shower tray. Apart from that everything was perfect
Lovely house in a beautiful setting. It was just lovely to be able to complete evening walks along the beach each night. We were lucky to have fabulous weather all week. Beadnell is absolutely perfect to visit all areas of Northumberland. Our favourite day was definitely a trip to the Farne Islands and we walked from Deck House to Seahouses along the coast road, which was just over 2 miles. A real find was Howick Hall Gardens. The house is great and we would certainly recommend it, but would benefit from a few additions. Cutlery was in extremely short supply, especially dessert spoons where there were only 6, which meant that cutlery always had to be washed after breakfast and couldnt be put in the dishwasher. Also, there was no information about recycling so we had to just bin everything. Each authority have different rules, so it would have been helpful to know what the system is here. The bunk bed wasnt particularly comfortable for adults, but would be perfect for children. The main two bedrooms were very comfortable and everywhere was clean. Also, this is the first holiday cottage we have stayed in that didnt have a tourist folder with ideas about places to visit. Maybe its a COVID precaution but there was a Visitors book and a folder of appliance handbooks.
Great house in a lovely peaceful location with lots to do in the surrounding area. Window seat and bunkbed were a hit with our 4 year old, and we also enjoyed a knock around at the tennis courts rackets are available in the house but youll need your own balls House was rather dusty and could do with a more thorough clean as shutters and some sides had quite a build up of dust and a few cobwebs. Kitchen needed a wipe down before using as some sticky fingerprints on cupboard door and thick dust on cafetire didnt give confidence that it had all been cleaned. Kitchen had plenty of glasses and mugs but could do with some more crockerycutlery. Colourful plastic cutlery and plates etc was appreciated by our daughter. Good Tv and sound bar made watching a film on a cooler evening enjoyable too. Overall, a brilliant stay, a week wasnt long enough and we would return.
We know this area well and have stayed in many properties with different companies over the years. The Deck House is in a super location, is very comfortable and equipped to a high standard. The furniture and fittings are of a high quality. I would have no hesitation in recommending this property.
Brynley
Wonderful! Beautiful property, loved the lay out. Also a great location and a great base to explore Northumbria.
Stephanie
Fantastic property. Great location. Would definitely stay again!
Catherine

Christopher
This is a great house near the sea and located next to a brilliant sandy beach. Interior is modern and well kept, you will find lots of little extras in the house to make your stay more enjoyable. We stayed in December and the house was lovely and warm with the added benefit of the log burner.
Lovely house and great location for beach. Needs a razor electric toothbrush adapter.
Victoria
Everything about the property was brilliant. Location was excellent. Play park nearby and amazing beaches! It was absolutely perfect!
Its a great house in a fabulous location brilliant for the beach. The views are lovely from upstairs and the TV and Alexa are brilliant it feels really comfortable and the WIFI is really good. There was zero information about the property apparently the information sheet has been removed it really does need replacing as its not at all clear what you do with rubbish for example. Whilst pretty clean the property is in need of a deep clean there was quite a lot of dust on the shutters and light fittings etc. The kitchen is fairly well equipped but the saucepans need replacing as the non stick coating is coming off them all which is a bit of a health hazard!. More cutlery is needed and a cheese grater and ice cream scoop is also needed!! These things probably wouldnt stop me going back but for the price I think they need resolving. We had one or two issues with a leaking loo and a broken door hinge but these things were resolved impressively quickly when I called Sykes.
Good location, well equipped and well appointed. Some information on what to do with rubbish and recycling would have been helpful. Ended up leaving it all which seemed wrong.
